Personal Branding for University Students- Griffith University Leading the way for Job Search Success!
Over the last couple of weeks we have been working with the Student Leaders program at Griffith University. These students are the top 50 students who have applied for and been selected for advanced education in preparing them for the real business world. Joanne Fairclough has been at the helm and created the program to help them look for ways to give them the edge. “With over 15,000 people cut from the public service in Queensland this year and possibly more to come, we are in one of the toughest job markets we have seen. We have delivered more job search coaching in the last 6 months than we have in the last 4 years so this has been a great way to help students become proactive and not be stuck in the situation many of our clients are now.” Says Jane Anderson, Master Career Director and Certified Executive Coach.
We created a 2 hour workshop for the students on creating their Personal Brand using Linkedin and managing their online reputation. With over 91% of recruiters using online reputation as part of their reason to include or screen candidates, students walked away with feedback on their current online profile and what needs to change to give them the edge to be attractive to recruiters for casual jobs, internships and future full-time work in their dream job.
Some of the students feedback were:
“This workshop was extremely helpful! I now feel confident in setitng up a Linkedin Profile and I understand how important managing my personal brand is!” Sarah Bray Business Undergraduate
” The best think I learnt was about being more professional and knowing what information to control and release. Using Linkedin to the best of my ability”. Analeise W. Business Undergraduate
